Mr. B. has been invited to attend the launch of STS-131 scheduled for 5 April 2010. It is one of the last Space Shuttle missions. I will be a guest of NASA and have a prime viewing location. It should be quite an experience. As part of the experience I will be a participant in an educational forum regarding women in engineering and robotics. I will be posting more information here in the days ahead.
Photos are a great opportunity to share a story. Here Orbiter Discovery gets ready to be mated with the external fuel tank and solid rocket boosters inside the VAB. Should rollout to the pad at 1 MPH on 2 March 2010.
Overnight (3 March 2010), the orbiter Discovery rolled out to launchpad 39A at a blistering 1 MPH. Below is a picture of the orbiter, tank and SRBs attached atop the crawler as it emerges from the VAB.
Lastly here is the shuttle in place on the pad. Just about a month before the launch!

I am happy with glueing the chine strip in before adding the bottom deck. It is a much better way in my estimation. Here are the two frames ready for some deck materials and rails! I might be able to finish these before my upcoming trip to Florida. [...]
